Algebraic Topology I: Recitation

Summer 2026, University of Wrocław

This is the page for the recitation section of Algebraic Topology I. The page for the lecture section can be found here.

Basic Information

Recitation is held Tuesdays, 12:00–14:00 in room A of the Mathematical Institute.

Evaluation

Your grade for the recitation section will be based on two in-class midterm exams as well as on solutions you present in class to exercises from the exercise lists.

  • 45%: Midterm exam 1, Tuesday, April 21
  • 45%: Midterm exam 2, Tuesday, June 2
  • 20%: Presentation of solutions of exercises from the exercise lists
  • Grade thresholds: [0,50) → 2.0, [50,60) → 3.0, [60,70) → 3.5, [70,80) → 4.0, [80,90) → 4.5, [90,110) → 5.0

As suggested above, a bonus of at most 10% can be earned from presenting more solutions in class than your “quota.” See below for more details.

Presentation of Solutions

During the recitation, you will be asked to volunteer to present solutions to exercises from the lists. For each solution you present, you will earn points towards the 20% presentation portion of your evaluation, where 10% is considered a full grade and anything above is considered a bonus. If no student volunteers to present a solution for a particular exercise then the instructor will present a solution. Your final evaluation will be the minimum of 20% and 10% × P × N / T where

  • P is the number of points you have earned from presenting solutions in class
  • T is the total number of points earned by everyone in class (including those earned by the instructor)
  • N is the number of students (estimated from the number writing the midterms)

You should think of T / N as your quota of points to earn. If P ≥ T / N then you will earn at least the full grade of 10%.
